Dr. K S Nayak
Chief Medical Advisor, Renal Care
Dr. K S Nayak (MD, DNB, FRCP, FASN, FISN, FISOT) is an internationally acclaimed nephrologist known for his path-breaking work across clinical, medical, academic, and research fields. His areas of interest include peritoneal dialysis (PD), renal transplant, renal nutrition, and the innovative use of technology in patient care. His centre was the first training centre in South Asia recognised by the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) for its Fellowship Programme, and he is Mentor for the post-doctoral PD Fellowship of the Indian Society of Nephrology. He has trained nephrologists and PD nurses worldwide for more than two decades and is regarded as a global pioneer of remote patient monitoring and emergent-start peritoneal dialysis, with work included in ISPD and KDIGO guidelines. He has held international leadership positions including President of the International Society of Blood Purification and Chair of the Communications and Media Committee of the ISPD, and serves on the editorial boards of Peritoneal Dialysis International, Blood Purification, the American Journal of Nephrology, and the Journal of Renal Nutrition. His honours include the Life Time Achievement Award of the PD Society of India and the Guru Dronacharya Award, and he delivered the Georgi Abraham Oration at the 10th APC-ISPD 2023 in New Delhi.
Dr. Prof. R N Makroo
Chief Medical Advisor, Transfusion Medicine
Dr. (Prof.) R N Makroo holds an MD in Pathology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology from PGI Chandigarh, together with a Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine (United Kingdom). A three-time recipient of the National Award for Blood Transfusion Services in India and a centurion blood donor, he has served as Senior Consultant and Head of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, as a National Consultant in Transfusion Medicine with the World Health Organization, and most recently as Director Professor of Transfusion Medicine, Molecular Biology & Transplant Immunology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi. He was Secretary General of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology for 12 years and President of the Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine from 2016 to 2023, and is a member of the AABB and the International Society of Blood Transfusion. A qualified NABH assessor for blood banks, he has authored the Compendium of Transfusion Medicine, Principles & Practice of Transfusion Medicine, and more than 150 research papers.
